How to deal shares, funds and other investments

Once you've opened a Junior Investment Account buying or shares and funds is easy. You can deal by giving us instructions:

Dealing times – when can I deal?

The London Stock Market is open for trading between 08:00 and 16:30, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

Real-time dealing

When the stock market is open, your instructions for dealing shares, Investment Trusts and ETFs will usually be processed immediately. Instructions given outside these hours will be carried out from 08:00 the following trading day.

Unit Trusts and OEICs

Instructions to deal Unit Trusts and OEICS placed by 10:00 are processed the same day. Orders received after 10:00 are carried out the following trading day.

Gilts

You can trade Gilts between 08:00 and 16:30, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Please call our Dealing team to trade Gilts, you cannot trade Gilts online.

Three different ways to open a Junior Investment Acccount.

Transferring accounts

Having all your investments in one place makes them much easier to manage.

Transferring investments from other dealing accounts (and Share Certificates) to us is simple and hassle free.

Please complete and sign the relevant transfer forms and we'll take care of all the paperwork with your existing broker and let you know as soon as your account has been transferred.

Please bear in mind that your existing provider may also charge you for making a transfer.

It can take up to four to six weeks to process your transfer

Don't forget that the value and income from investments can go down as well as up and you will not be able to deal in your investments during the transfer. Therefore there is the potential that you may have a loss of income / growth whilst the transaction is being completed.
